A very peaceful three hours at Bowling Green Marsh this morning. It was teeming with birds including #Avocet, #Dunlin, #Curlew, Black-tailed Godwit, #Redshank, #Snipe (11), Spotted Redshank (1), Bar-tailed Godwit (1), #Greenshank (1); #Pochard, #Wigeon, #Pintail, #Mallard, #Shoveler, #Shelduck, Tufted Duck as well as some pleasant company and a flask of tea.

A morning on the east side of the River Exe, starting in the Maer Valley just outside #Exmouth where there is a small colony of Ring-necked Duck. Then onto Bowling Green Marsh for the high tide. The latter was quiet - both in terms of waders (hardly any) and peace and quiet (lots).

Sunday morning and a pleasant couple of hours at Bowling Green Marsh reserve before the rains came. Highlights were a Ruff and a Spotted Redshank (so it was all about red legs!) amongst the hundreds of Black-tailed Godwit and Avocet. Good for the souls and good for the mind.

Super nice guy, and gave me some workflows he's had to use in the past which were so helpful to learn about. I love working together with customers (and users) to make the product better - plus it gives me an excuse to buy new toys!
The scenario he painted was very much the same as Netflix's needs were when I visited them a few years ago, where the IT dept doesn't need to know EXACTLY where an asset is, just that it's in the room/area. In the Netflix case, it's because they have labs where anyone can, for example, go in and wheel out a large TV to help with their work (making sure the closed captions are syncing correctly with the audio and comply within required standards.) Super useful and very interesting to chat with him. I wouldn't have thought it would be that common of a workflow, but I guess I was wrong!

Common Snipe In A Blizzard
One of a small flock spooked by the alarm calls of another bird, flying out from the edge of a lake in the West Midlands, to another area offering perhaps better cover.
It was fascinating to watch these birds finding areas that weren't frozen around the lake, to feed in.
