I made a trip out to Dun Laoghaire again on Sunday, this time to capture the Snow Moon rise behind the bronze statue of Roger Casement, by Mark Richards FRSS.
At one stage the moon disappeared briefly behind low-lying cloud, and when it re-emerged the sky had turned beautiful shades of pastel pink & blue, just as the sun was setting. It was an amazing sight…I’m glad I was there to witness it.

Such a beautiful morning. I left home in the dark to get the early #train but found my tyre was flat so had to fix it and get the later one. That meant being treated to stunning frosty views, golden sunshine and the pale #SnowMoon. The air was so fresh this morning, so glad I’m #NotDrivingMyCar.

Tonight is cold, and clear, with many stars twinkling above and around me. And I can definitely feel that the snow moon is going to do what it promises, and soon.
It is endlessly fascinating to me when I can look up to stars and other planets and dream of things I will never get to see with my own eyes. And I remain astonished that despite much earlier experiments, the telescope as we know it did not arrive until 1608.
