One of my favorite recurring Trek tropes is metaphors that should be utterly baffling in Star Trek. Karl Urban's McCoy is a font of these.

On a recent #SNW, Spock referred to a space shuttle maneuvering as "turning into the skid", and I chuckled heartily.

What's the opposite of a pet peeve? These always make me feel warm and fuzzy.

My favorite thing about #StarTrek, especially #TNG (and #SNW so far) is how unrelentingly hopeful it is. I really like Sci Fi in general, always have since I was a kid, but most Sci Fi is dour or cautionary tales. I'm not too familiar with Sci Fi that believes in the best in humanity as a species. Star Trek believes there is a future right around the corner for us where we solve all our problems. All that's left is the pure pursuit of knowledge through exploration of the universe. I love that.

#StarTrek idea. #Enterprise is largely seen as hit and miss, but season 4 was almost all hits thanks to Manny Coto. Season 5 was supposed to cover the #Romulan War. #Paramount+ could cover that in a Disney-like miniseries. Coto died ~2 months ago, but I bet #SNW writers could do him justice.

#StarTrek DIS after a few seasons of #SNW is better this time. As we enter DIS S2 we agreed I’d only rewatch SNW because it’s recent. But after TOS: The Cage I’ve been even more impressed with Rebecca Romijn’s efforts to fill the giant shoes of Una Chin-Riley. I mean not just anyone can be Majel Barrett, but I am continually overjoyed at how I often I see her. So glad the authors of the list put it ENT (last ep held for TNG) and then TOS: The Cage and then DIS so you see Majel’s version first.

As for people going on about different themed episodes of SNW (you know the one). TOS did gangsters, Greek Gods, a western, a Halloween theme, Tribbles, a giant rabbit (Shore Leave), and space hippies episode, this is part of what Trek does, and has always done. #SNW #StarTrek

For example the way the plots of season 1 and 2 intertwined to the climax of the last 2 episodes of season 2 was epic television for me, also tying in the Genesis of various #StarTrek foundations like the Spock / Kirk friendship.

On the other hand, #SNW finale for season 2 tried to be epic but it had no legs to stand on, having been preceded by musical, cartoon, and comedy episodes, and no real investment in the Pike love story, or the Gorn arc.
