Listened to The National's "Trouble Will Find Me" LP last night. Realized that was the first time in a VERY long time I wasn't listening to it at 2 AM, drunk, and sobbing because it reminds me of my daughter.

It still reminds me SO much of my daughter and I'm very sad that she still chooses not to communicate with me. All I can do is make sure she knows I'm here when--if--she's ready.

And it was good to be listening to it sober.

I don’t know, if something like that works for you great. I’ve been in intensive therapy for the last 8 yrs and I wouldn’t be here without it, so I get it, fucking do what you have to in capitalism, but spread out your support. Meet people in IRL. What works for one won’t necessarily work for another. We’ve all just got 24 hrs anyway #sober

My sponsor has been sober almost 40 yrs. His sponsor is over? 50 yrs sober. I value his opinion, insight, ability to tell me I’m lying to myself, call me on my shit etc.

But I’m never going to put him on a pedestal on how I should be as a human. Only a few years ago I was hand writing him letters as he served time in federal US prison. Like, life is complicated and I get that. But I’m also far less vulnerable now to being taken advantage of when life is excruciatingly painful #sober

I’ve certainly talked about being non-using and sober on social media before but I don’t really talk about it much anywhere. It’s been over 17 1/2 yrs for me now (I’ve somehow never “relapsed” but I’ve got opinions on the start over clock business).

I can’t really imagine trying to do that now. I can’t imagine being a drug user in 2023. And as much as how I live day to day life to be happy and functional outside programs has changed, I find the sober influencer thing weird #sober #socialmedia

Usually, around 5 pm on vacation, we would have headed to the local brewery to have a flight of beers before dinner. Instead, we went to a local cafe to have a maple syrup latte by the water and... It was just as nice. Better even.

We have some excellent GF beer here in the PNW but no GF + non-alcoholic. There are only a handful of brewed without gluten (not gluten-removed) non-alcoholic beers ✨globally✨.

I sprung for a shipment of Go Brewing’s (Naperville, IL) Freedom Cali Pale and absolutely love it. Hoppy, malty (without barley), fresh and refreshing. Brewed w/o gluten, & they mitigate cross-contamination risk using a gluten-removing enzyme. So rad.

I made it to eight weeks #sober! #sobriety

Last week at work my team was informed our employment is transferring to another company.

We met to discuss. One coworker said "well, it's a good day to start drinking early" Haha

Occurred to me - not long ago I would have shared that feeling. look for means to escape in a bottle.
Until the mention, I had zero thoughts about alcohol, but I understood the feeling.
Made me feel like I'm not the same person I was not long ago.
