The grain deal is dead. It’s dead because Putin killed it but actually wants it dead because they want to sink Russian ships. For international cooperation however, they need to say they want it.

The opposite is therefore true for Russia. Their fleet is vulnerable so they want the grain deal to protect their fleet, but they can’t admit their weaknesses. Ukraine played fair, it was another Putin mistake when he killed it.

So we have a grand case of irony where both sides want the opposite of what they say they want. Nothing will happen in on grain as Ukraine won’t agree to it. Ukraine will get what they want as they control the sea.
