Ugh, #SocialCoderz is a couple of patches behind the official Mastodon releases. I'll start thinking about taking some downtime (not very long, I hope) soon (maybe even this afternoon) to upgrade our little shard of the internetz.

#SocialCoderz ! We're running the latest and greatest 4.1.0 #Mastodon and now have some amount of text search abilities with #ElasticSearch 🥳

Alright #SocialCoderz fam, there's a new tag of #Mastodon out ( https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/releases/tag/v4.1.0 ) so I'll be trying to upgrade us today. Annnnd I'm back into #SocialCoderz ! I thought #Ubuntu came preinstalled with some sort of time sync tool but I did a `sudo apt install ntp` anyway and now 2-factor auth is working again 🎉 💻 🌐 📶

Just tried logging into #SocialCoderz from the web and keep getting “invalid two-factor code” :sob: I wonder if the server’s clock is too far out of sync… I’ll look into it :spy: #MastoAdmin

Dearest #SocialCoderz, I'm going to resize the #DigitalOcean #Droplet our instance is running on tomorrow (probably in the morning). We'll be out of commission for a short time, but when we come back up we'll have 4 CPUs, 8GB of RAM and 160 GB of disk which should last us until more people join. #MastoAdmin #Mastodon #Update

Alright, #SocialCoderz ! I'm back from the grocery store, I have a second cup of ☕ and I'm ready to disrupt our instance :p

1. Stop the mastodon-* systemd services
2. Switch to mastodon user and pull the most recent main branch
3. Run database migrations (if applicable)
4. Run the bundle command
5. Switch back to root, start the mastodon-* services

Heads up, #SocialCoderz ! Our instance is a bit out-of-date (currently on: https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/commit/6ba52306f9d2611a06326445230b54c156c37e53) so I'm going to pull the main branch tomorrow (Nov. 23, 2022) in the morning and try to get us on the cutting edge of the #Mastodon source code.
