A friend's words, "that's great", may mean "that's great" or "that's NOT great at all" (sarcasm). A key feature of social stimuli is uncertainty.

Berkay and Jenkins (in press) showed that DMPFC is sensitive to uncertainty even in nonsocial tasks! The dichotomy of social vs. nonsocial would be better re-conceptualized as a continuum of uncertainty, and thus social cognition may be situated within the domain-general framework.

Another reflection about the #Fiddler scandal.

After the decline of behaviorism, social psychologists jumped on the cognitivist bandwagon. This gave them credibility with experimental psychologists, but it also led to a total loss of ecological validity (i.e., real world relevance).

The replication crisis showed that most social cognition research was fake. Maybe time to end this paradigm and focus on real world issues.
