One area I think we often neglect when building movements, is creating social spaces.

In many of the greatest movements and revolutions in history, information was disseminated and people were radicalized through local coffee houses or pubs. Today, these are often places of isolation. Most people go and stick to the group they came with or don't interact with anyone other than the bartender/barista.

There are plenty of reasons why this is, but it makes those locations more difficult to have that social cohesion factor. It takes the active effort of people involved to establish community hubs like that now.

We need to build these communal spaces as much as possible. Coop bookstores, coffee shops that facilitate conversation, public workspaces, etc. Colleges still have this to a degree and it's why movements are often more effective on campuses.

And those #covid19 trackers, a good faith project afaik, in the Western democracies are an obvious #securitybreach P.O.I.N.T. being: -- -- maybe, just maybe we can build a bridge of #reconciliation with the #rightwing wingnut space cadets if we acknowledge that their overblown paranoia about the so-called "deep state" is not lacking a kernel of truth.

Good to see #mentalhealth ranking highest for US #NewYearResolutions. Beyond self care, one critical component of this work, and especially important in individualistic America, is building #community, #socialcapital, #socialcohesion, #kindness, #empathy. So, all hands on deck.
