Today in cruel ironies:

I am late-identified autistic enough that I am in fact, too old for many of what I feel would be the most useful support services in my area.

Sure, it's great we have them when others don't - don't get me wrong.

But I *know* so sorely that I'd benefit so much from regular, organised, structured social events that aren't just group therapy with like-minded people. So many of these exist - membership is 'up to' a certain age. I approach that age this year, and sign up is based on birth year.

So I can't even savour a few months.

The alternative for us 'old folks'? Passive activity centres where everything is on the individual to plan and organise and "better themselves".

I'd get on the infantilisation wagon if they didn't actually seem to be pretty dang good offers. They're just. So close, and out of reach.
