Isaac, Yarrow Dunham, and Julian Jara-Ettinger designed social vignettes to test their computational model of how people infer social structure (e.g., hierarchies) from a domain-general statistical learning mechanism and domain-specific social knowledge.

They think 2 experiments "support our account".

Fortunately, I was mostly done with the data acquisition from Twitter for my Evangelical identity formation research. I was hoping to go farther back in time to be able to (eventually) discuss trends, but now that the public API is ending, it may not be possible. A man on a furlough from debtor's prison decides to return a handbag containing gold coins to its rightful owner. This action has many repercussions and Farhadi shows us numerous perspectives on it, casting a harsh light on human nature (and social media). 3/3 - As a suboptimal research practice, operationalisation biases can according to Reddy "lead to false-positive findings".

In our experience this bias can also lead to false negative findings, especially when multidimensional constructs are not specified as such.

Divergent effects cancel each other out.

As a social psychologist who studies belonging (and discourse), this is a pretty good explanation of the problem that is at the heart of the culture war (in the US, in this case, but the principle is broader than any national context). Acknowledging minority groups is to admit that they belong. That is why "exclusive America", as Cohen puts it, is so violently opposed to inclusive public policy.
