#sociodon @sociology If it helps, the journal article I am writing is going to be at least 9K, including references but not including tables and figures. It's a quantitative article.
My original plan was to send it to #SociologyOfEducation (#SocOfEd). But although they have a 10K word count, the tables and figures count against the word count, so I'm down to about 8700 and I don't think that's possible unless I move a table that I *know* reviewers will want to see to an appendix.

So, I am looking for a copy of Aaron Cicourel‘s and Hugh Mehan‘s paper from 1983 or 1985: Universal development, stratifying practices, and status attainment. Research in social stratification and mobility 4: 3-27. There seems to be no library in Germany that provides access. Sci-Hub also failed. Thankful for any help or directions #ethnomethodology #sociologyofeducation

Relationships with parents are a powerful—yet often hidden—source of inequality among college students. The COVID-19 pandemic exposed this in new ways.
This week on the American Sociological Association's Work in Progress blog, I discuss how undergraduates from different social class backgrounds navigated the transition to remote instruction in March 2020.

The only "Quality-Quantity-Strategy" in education policy is a neoliberal strategy. And that has nothing to do with quality education.

I am finding my way around here and thought I would make an #introduction. I am a higher educational researcher and teacher interested in #highereducation #sociologyofeducation and #philosophyofeducation I use theory to see how we can think differently about questions and practices surrounding student engagement, belonging, literacy, and connection in Higher Ed. I am interested in understanding how people learn, and I like to write!
