Each society are ruled by a monarch (used litterally, as one ruler) that makes their own rules.

Whether you like it or not, the monarch of your instance impacts your experience through policy. They have power over you and you should have an eye on them, so that you dont end up being used in a play for power. They shape how we are social.

Stop saying that the fediverse is built up of instances. That is not how it feels like. It doesnt reflect the experience. And this form of technojargon alienates people and make them feel its more complicated than it is.
