Marketing an American image abroad reflected how the US viewed democracy, capitalism, gender, and race relations while shaping a constructed version of national identity.

Yes, I think that's right... there's lots of ministerial rhetoric about #softpower but little appreciation of what it actually entails, and the fact that shirt-term cuts to provision produce long-term & very difficult to reverse effects on soft power.... (I uses to spend quite a bit of time when I taught international politics, exploring exactly this issue with my students - who has soft power, how do you get it & how is it maintained - all actually quiet subtle stuff)

India’s soft power is not just Bollywood and yoga. It also includes its ancient wisdom, diverse culture, and democratic values. These assets have helped India to forge strong ties with many countries and regions, especially in Asia and Africa. India’s soft power is a force for good in the world.

2) #CCP has held a press conference in response of the #tiktok hearing claiming the US has no rights to regulate #tiktok operating within the US

Three big, long-running branches. All claim to be ready to merge. I'm de facto main QA as well as dev lead (somehow--it's a #SoftPower thing)

Branch 1: Seems fine, but the dev is on paternal leave. Why risk breakage while he's gone?

Branch 2: Critically needed, but some basic functionality is broken. Cannot merge.

Branch 3 (my own): I think it's ready, but no one else has ever run it.

Finally today someone else is looking. Maybe merge to trunk today!

Here's my opinion: #China has nothing in terms of #softpower to *convince* #Taiwan and its citizens to submit themselves to the inhuman authoritarian regime of the ghoulish #CCP.
The fine people of Taiwan are used to speak their mind, to talk shit about those in power and to use the entire internet with all its #freedoms.
What incentive could #Beijing have to lure them into a cage? There is none. And there will be NO *reunification* under CCP rule. That's a serious non-starter.
