It doesn't look like it, at least not to me.

I becoming more and more aware that zero-trust security is a model hard to talk about in independence of the #SoftwareArchitecture of an application or set of applications. "Ecosystem", if you want.

It creates conflict and tension between the security and way we want to architect a solution for other aspects like performance, scalability, and so on.

It's not a pleasant discovery.

If we narrow our view to the security issue, a zero-trust model means that we need to enforce all the security policies and validations in all the systems involved in a particular fulfillment, distrusting even the firewalls.

But, then, in a distributed application, we have functional peer trust; trust that the customer that a request is acting for has been correctly validated + originated by other system or process.

Well, that's not zero trust anymore, is it?
