The Philippine LGBTQI+ community are up at arms at the arrest of a famous trans pinay Awra Briguela. She defended her friends from harassment which escalated into a brawl. She acted in self-defense and the police arrested her for it.

Interesting that the PH Queer community is adding “#defund” slogans. Sooner rather than later, I hope they can also realize some #NoCopsAtPride as well.

The #Philippines is still a conservative and LGBTQ-phobic country.

Twenty-three years on, SOGIE Equality is still stuck as a bill, and the counter might just tick one more. An evangelical pastor has failed to block it in the lower house, but his son succeeded in the Senate to let the bill languish on their rules committee (as every previous year).

Saying you have nothing against the community while blocking legal measures to protect them from abuse is pure contradiction.
