This month’s record, and the longer recent period of warmth, are driven by a collection of several man-made* and natural factors acting together.

- anthropogenic global warming
- El niño/ la niña
- Solar cycles
- volcanic eruption of Hunga-Tonga
- cleaner marine fuels

Firstly, man-made* global warming has been raising the Earth’s temperature by about 0.19 °C/decade (0.34 °F/decade). This is a direct consequence of the accumulation of additional greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, especially carbon dioxide. This is the primary factor responsible for long-term warming.

(Probably you know this already, but I liked especially the other factors, as there is often talk about them, but seldom these factors are compared...)

This type of #denialist lie only works on those who don't know how #SolarCycles work, and who aren't really aware of the difference between #weather and #climate - you need to look at and interval of at least 30 years to say anything significant at all about climate.

@GregRose Please respond to what I say, not to what you say. I have never said "man made #climatechange is not happening."

What I do say is that periodic increases in global average surface temperature (#GAST) are the result of natural #solarcycles, and are marginally influenced by human #GHG emissions. I also state that increases in GAST are not responsible for anecdotal reports of increasing extreme weather, and that increase in atmospheric #CO2 is beneficial, not damaging.
