A Last-Minute Addition to the Solar Orbiter Allows it to See More Deeply into the Sun's Atmosphere
The Solar Orbiter mission uses an ultraviolet instrument to capture images of the Sun's outer atmosphere - the corona. A last-minute improvement to the camera, made by an engineer, has proven to be effective, allowing the camera to peer more deeply into the corona than initially planned. He added a small mask that can perfectly block the disk of the Sun when the camera's door slides away. If the door is stopped halfway, the mask blocks the Sun, and more faint ultraviolet radiation can be detected.

Is the Solar Wind Coming From These Tiny Jets on the Sun?
ESA/NASA's Solar Orbiter has gotten so close to the Sun that it's revealing features on the solar surface never seen by astronomers. Most recently, it's helped discover tiny jets that suddenly appear on the Sun's outer atmosphere. Each jet only lasts between 20 and 100 seconds but hurls plasma into space at around 100 km/s. It's believed that these jets could be the source of the solar wind, constantly blowing charged particles into the Solar System.

I was going to go off on the use of the word "tiny" when talking about any feature on the sun. It's counter intuitive to think of anything being tiny about the sun. But, for a feature a couple of hundred kilometers across, I suppose that qualifies as a tiny on the sun. https://www.esa.int/Science_Exploration/Space_Science/Solar_Orbiter/Solar_Orbiter_discovers_tiny_jets_that_could_power_the_solar_wind

Of course, we should make sure that #SolarOrbiter is seeing the same parts of the #Sun that we do from earth. The good folk at solar-mach.github.io have us covered here. Looks like #SolarOrbiter and #I-LOFAR should be seeing mostly the same thing!
So some big bright radio bursts can be seen around the time of the M class flare. This isn't too surprising as we think radio emission of this type is a result of the same processes causing the flare. What I'm more interested in is the emission happening before all this at ~11:19-11:20. Taking a look at X-rays again, this time with STIX onboard #SolarOrbiter we see a much smaller increase in X-ray flux before the M class flare.
