Billions pledged for green development at Africa climate talks
> The UAE pledged $4.5 billion in clean energy investments in Africa on Tuesday at a landmark climate summit aimed to showcase the continent's potential as a green powerhouse.

Just went over 3.5MWh of #solarpv generation for the year. Had I bought that from my energy company, it would have cost about £890.
My net energy bill for the whole of August is £17.59. I got paid £34.02 for exported electricity.
The bill for the same month last year was £157.79.
3 days away and some apparently sunny weather near home has really helped with the #solarpv exporting. Averaging around 10kWh per day so far, so £3 per day or thereabouts.
A nice #SolarPV day. I don’t get paid any more for dumping to the grid at peak hours but it hopefully helps in a tiny way to reduce pricing for everyone else.
Being away means plenty of spare #SolarPV energy. COMMENCE POWER DUMPING PROCEDURE!
Since being installed, the unit has diverted 178kWh of excess #solarpv energy into the hot water cylinder. Not a huge amount, sure, but that's gas I didn't have to burn to heat the tank.
We're off on holiday in the early hours of tomorrow morning. I must remember to turn the #solar export interceptor off on the hot water for more GREAT EXPORT JUSTICE.
My #solarpv system is about to clock over 3.5MWh of generation for the year so far.
At my current average import unit rate of 30.72p/kWh that's £1063.59 worth of electricity that I didn't need to buy.
Solar and battery have been mostly covering the house for the past week. This was meant to be one of the best potential months for lots of exporting, but the weather's been utterly rubbish.
Best #solarpv generation day in several weeks. Most of July and early August have been almost literally a washout for generation.
I'm experimenting with running some stuff off solar today while I'm at work. I'm running my Thinkpad T420, a second monitor, a Pi3 and a Pi4, and whatever else is plugged into this power strip, idk. There's also an MQTT sensor module that runs off a ESP8266 in there.
I'm using a 100 watt panel and a 296Wh battery bank. The battery bank only accepts 65w input, but it was overcast when I left, and there's quite a bit of tree cover for the panel.
It's a short work day, so if I find that the battery is dead by the time I get home, I'll have a slightly better idea of how long it'll last than if it was a full work day.
I fully expect things to still be running when I get home, but I know I need both more panels and more batteries AND to simply leave less electronic shit running in order to make a dent in my electric load.
Current projected savings for year 1 are £776.01 which is less than I predicted, however the next 5 months numbers are nothing more than pasting the Jan to May bills in reverse order into the spreadsheet for August to December, so we'll see.
@patrickharvie need to get the message out #SolarPV x #AirSourceHeatPump x #LithiumBattery x #PowerDiverter #Economy7 enables overnight charging at £0.07 pkwh for use in the day over winter months. #MakeUsIndependent ruin the profiteers: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-66359093
