Thinking about how Resmaa Menakem resmaa.com/about talks about white body supremacy using “bodies of culture,” “white bodies,” and “police bodies.”

I was under the impression that The Nap Bishop's work was for Black people, so I stayed away. I swear I saw that in her (Tricia Hersey's) twitter feed? But I heard her on a podcast saying it's for everyone, so I'm diving in! Here's her linktree with all the links: linktr.ee/thenapministry

I made this t-shirt when I thought my favorite podcast (Maintenance Phase maintenancephase.com/) accepted offerings in their store. teepublic.com/t-shirt/34430323

It’s not beautiful, but the message is a source of strength for me.

A lot of my posts are about how I *feel* about stuff. I'm getting deep into and that involves lots of practice staying in my body and lots of noticing.

It might seem like I think "how I feel" is super important. It is, for me, but it's not something I think needs to be on other people's radar. I post about it to vent and also because I hope it might invite other people (especially white people like me) think about their own sensations.

this "staying present in my body" stuff is still so freaking exhausting. who knew (I didn't!) life was so full of feelings??? nearly overwhelmingly joyful and nearly unbearably horrible!

one of the problems with DiAngelo's "White Fragility" is one of the most racist-harm-causing qualities of those of us who are white in the USA is our lack of embodiment skills. so, yes, our fragility has harmful and racist consequences AND us denying our feelings does, too.

we white people need practices and spaces like so we can learn to stay present in our body as we face the realities of racism and our part in it.
