This was pretty good! At times the panel layouts were really confusing—like I didn’t know where my eye was supposed to go to next—but otherwise it filled the Buffy-shaped hole in me.

Today has been a pretty good day. Brunch with friends, dispelled some negative energy and angst in a , spent a little time reading , watched some pre-race testing and to get ready for the upcoming season, and finished reading .

And then all y’all got to hear about it at the end of my day today once I got back to Mastodon to empty out my brain one microblog at a time. Good thing our wonderful admin upped the character limit on toots! :kekw:

Fortunately, I have one more decompression day in my weekend because I need to show my and some love and check out the latest patches for . Hopefully tomorrow is as good a day as today was.

And while I’m pontificating, I might as well post my thoughts on “Something is Killing the Children”, one of the graphic novels I picked up last week.

It’s a horror comic about monsters that only children can see. The central character, Erica Slaughter (coolest name ever), is a member of a secret society of monster hunters. I got book 1, which is the first collection of individual issues in hardcover format.

The art is great, the story is a pretty cool interpretation of the whole “only children can see monsters” trope, and it flows very well together. There’s a lot of content in this book with some decent exposition so you kind of get a feel for what’s going on, but there’s also plenty of room for more story. If another book is not published, the story will have wrapped up nicely but since this is “Book 1” the implication is that there will be more.

Great series and well worth the read if you can pick it up. Would give it 5/5.

Read v5 & v4 last night. The former has reached the rinse/repeat phase of its plotting while the latter seems to be progressing nicely to its conclusion.

Durch mit . Die Zeichnungen fand ich etwa roh und die Panelanordnung teilweise verwirrend. Dafür überzeugt die überraschend ernsthaft erzählte Geschichte, wird weiter gelesen.

Something is killing the children

Bei dem Titel musste ich zugreifen! Es handelt sich hierbei um eine Serie, die ein wenig an Stranger Things erinnert, aber wesentlich härter um die Ecke kommt.
Der erste Band startet sehr gut - viel Blut, eine mysteriöse Geheimgesellschaft, eine knallharte Protagonistin! Auch die Fortsetzungen konnten mich bisher überzeugen, ich bleibe also auf jeden Fall dran.
