Finished "Finale: Late Conversations with Stephen Sondheim" by D.T. Max recently. While it treads a lot of the same ground as some other biographies, it excels at capturing his peculiar personality. He kind be kind and quick one minute, but retreats into his shell at the first sight of danger. A deep love for games and puzzles and an ever deeper love of the art of theatre.

He also loved Radiohead.

Like going through a high school yearbook, I spent the weekend revisiting the cast album. Phantom was my gateway stage musical. Like the first time kissing a boy, I remember seeing a clip of it on TV and being mesmerized. Something just clicked. Some generations claim seeing the greats like Ethel Merman, I claim Andrew Crawford and Sarah Brigthman.

I’ve moved on to more fulfilling relationships with musicals by Kander & Ebb, Jason Robert Brown, Lin Manuel Miranda and #Sondheim - but you don’t forget your first adolescent crush.
