this #SongGems is from one of my all time top albums ever. I don't have enough characters to write about it. It's a slow burn but worth it. This record changed everything, including the musical landscape of this genre. The perfect hat work on drums, gorgeous bouncy chorus soaked bass lines, and just utter mastery of dark and light make this an undefeated classic.
Syndic Calls is an excellent example of their range and complete command of mood. I hope you'll check it out
it's worth putting the cowbell up on my kit just for this tune. RIP to a real one

Fam this new Yves Tumor joint "In Spite of War" off the new album is a 1-day old #SongGems already ๐
Really fun to play on drums and bass guitar (with a nice fuzz ๐ค). Fun little tune on a great album. If you end up checking out the album, give "Parody" a whirl too. That ride cymbal is immaculate. ๐
#SongGems instead of doing a daily post, I'm just gonna post several songs I've been streamlining into my brain recently:
"Mosquito" by Donovan Wolfington
"Misery Loves Company" by Rebecca Black
"[spoons rattling]" by Origami Angel
"Seek And Destroy" by SZA
"Radio Punk" by Bad' Nerves
#SongGems from Kali Uchis, โI Wish You Roses.โ
What a great song. Perfect for a introspective morning. Already a fav in 2023-released music
โWith pretty flowers can come the bee sting
But I wish you love
I wish you well
I wish you roses while you can still smell themโ
#SongGems for today, a new song off Andy Schauf's latest record (which is lovely btw). "Telephone" is a beautiful and dreamy bit of melancholy for a dreary day.
Not a whole album but this #SongGems is a modern classic that I genuinely never tire of listening to. I hope you grab 10 minutes for yourself and some headphones and really give this a listen with no other distractions. I really like all of these musicians in their solo capacities, but all together theyโve achieved something timeless and densely rich. If you like this, check out each of their catalogs! For fans of jazz fusion especially. Breathtaking accomplishment.
