La verdad es que me molesta un poco esta nueva ola de reediciones actualizadas que están saliendo últimamente porque las veo en su mayoría poco inspiradas, a saber:

- #RobbieWilliams: #XXV. Nueva grabación orquestada de sus temas de siempre. Totalmente prescindible.
- #RichardAshcroft: #AcousticHymns. Nueva grabación en acústico de temas importantes de #Verve y en solitario. La versión de #BittersweetSymphony es un gran acierto.
- #U2: #SongsOfSurrender. Me ha gustado el juego que hacen en #Pride con las voces antiguas y las nuevas, pero no he oído nada más con un mínimo de interés en lo demás. Son número 1 en su primera semana, en parte gracias a su política de sacar tropecientas versiones distintas: estándar de 16 canciones, Deluxe con 20, vinilos en todos los colores del espectro, box set con 40 canciones... No es para mí.
- #BernardButler: #PeopleMoveOn2021. El guitarrista de #Suede sacó un discazo en 1998 y lo ha vuelto a grabar ahora que suena cascadísimo.

Y hay más, pero me da la sensación de que es difícil mejorar, subjetivamente, un disco o una canción que te cautivó en tu juventud. Extra mérito a los grupos que no se suban a este tren.

Result: Amid a morning of intense concentration, where my words have to flow or else, I savor this collection of forty classic anthems reimagined as sparse meditations. It flows like a sonic river for three hours, cool water for a burning brain.

Sometimes an artist loses the thread of their work over time, and their flailing to get it back feels more like a trainwreck than a reclamation. Such is the new U2... and 40 songs of it, no less. #songsofsurrender

My final review of #U2 #SongsOfSurrender – they purposefully ruined the old songs so that the new ones would sound better. Neither the new nor the old benefitted.

Going to play #GeorgeMichael's Symphonica now – elevator muzak as well, but with a better voice.

My thoughts on #U2 and their new #SongsofSurrender collection. It was a beautiful #U2 day.

I found the location of the #U2 #SongsOfSurrender pop-up event in #brooklyn. The event unlocked for me in front of Pier 2 along the promenade. There’s a little pullover spot on the highway with Citibikes. I’m fairly sure this is where the truck will be. It’s not currently here.

As a #U2 fan I wasn’t sure what to make of this new album #SongsOfSurrender when I heard they’d “reimagined and rerecorded” 40 hits and non-hits from the past 40 years. Was this a band of creatively depleted rockers trying to squeeze life and cash out of old material? If that’s your assessment of the album I suppose it’s a fair one. However… 1/2
