After a suggestion from @scribblemacher, I uninstalled RetroArch and installed a few direct emulators to the #Nintendo2DS and the emulators work so much more smoothly. Still no good 32X emulator, but Sonic 2: Pink Edition and Eternal Champions run great!
At some point I'll look into other types of homebrew 3DS software, but this will last me a while!
So exciting.

Guess I'll need to figure out the right settings to minimize the lag.

Well, my 11 year old decided she didn't want her #Nintendo2DS anymore...so, fine by me. I'll take it.
Took some time this afternoon to soft-mod it to install some #homebrew software. First attempted software - #RetroArch. Installed the #Genesis, #GameBoy, and #GameBoyAdvance cores to start.
Genesis & #GBC games working fine. Tried Knuckles Chaotix for 32X...not working quite so well. May have to try another core that run 32X games later.
Oh well, time for my favorite #SonicTheHedgehog2 Rom Hack - Pink Edition.

I pulled up an old #SEGA #Genesis #Emulator I had on my laptop & had forgotten about the 1 ROM I had - a ROM-hack of #Sonic2 that replaced Sonic with Amy Rose & Tails with Cream the Rabbit.
It's beautiful...mostly cause I love Sonic 2 and Amy attacking with a hammer is a lot of fun.

21 followers · 451 posts · Server bytetower.socialFinally did it! Beat Sonic 2 without cheat codes. Lost count of how many lives Death Egg Zone chewed through but it was in the high 20s. I'm sure I'll eventually come back for an all-emeralds run, but that's a project for another day.
For now? On to Freedom Planet 2! (And maybe I'll grab Sonic Forces before too much longer.)

Also… if I hadn’t looked up who did the voices, I couldn’t have told you who they were — which is quite different than ahem Chris Pratt’s Mario.
