On a secluded stroll, I encountered a slow snail, #sonorous susurrations, sanguine starlings, swift swallows and sundry solace. I cannot give you the seductive scent of the hawthorn but show the soothing snow of its flower petals.

A gaunt man entered. Roughneck snapped to attention.
"Your men, Commander?"
"I'm not a Commander anymore, General," Curtains said.
The General glared.
"Yes. These are my men."
"A sorry looking pair…"
Curtain drew himself up & returned the glare.
"They've got it where it counts, sir."
They locked eyes for a long moment, then the General said sharply, "Cut 'em loose, Sergeant." Then, in #sonorous tones, he said to the men, "Come 'round my daughter again & you'll find your balls in a vise."

A walk after the rain. I soak in the fragrance of the wet earth and the light of intensified colours, then make for the little pond. A tiny spot yet so alive. While the sun sinks silently, #sonorous #birdsong rises.
