Next up: I got this from Irreal, which I know all of you Emacs people read. However, I just wanna repost it cuz I *think* I just spoke with this guy yesterday on IRC. Also, he has a cool blog.

Its ubiquity, not to mention the terrible problems with pollution, has devalued how we see plastic. But it's a precious resource. And Precious Plastic are doing important work to help recycle plastic by type.

While moving my brother found some of my old stuffs that he kept from parent's.

Here's a printout of probably one of the first time I wrote a algorithm.

It was a bubble sort in .

It's funny because I still remember that I had to scratch my mind to find out how to sort numbers : it was for a game of Snake for which I wanted to keep an high score list. So it's not this code of but I probably reused it (the name of the variables "no" as number and "s" as score hints to that).

New study, impressive result: "Here we show how can go beyond the current state of the art [in efficiency] by discovering hitherto unknown routines…We formulated the task of finding a better sorting routine as a single-player game. We then trained a new deep reinforcement learning agent, AlphaDev, to play this game. AlphaDev discovered small sorting algorithms from scratch that outperformed previously known human benchmarks."

Finally some interesting & useful AI news!

"We reverse engineered the low-level assembly sorting algorithms discovered by AlphaDev for sort 3, sort 4 and sort 5 to C++ and discovered that our sort implementations led to improvements of up to 70% for sequences of a length of five and roughly 1.7% for sequences exceeding 250,000 elements."

The lack algos would make it reasonable to lengthen and widen the Explore-sortiment of boosted/favourited toots, to get "viral" toots more properly exposed.

There could be categories like:
Popular within the last:
6 hrs
24 hrs (default)
Week
Month
...

Sorting options for those could be e.g.:
🔃 By popularity (=boosts+favs)
🔃 By account name
🔃 By date/time
🔃 Random
...
