Quando #SotDL uscì, un sacco di persone lo liquidarono perché "ho sentito dire che c'è incantesimo che fa esplodere la merda nell'intestino degli avversari". Il che è un peccato perché, appunto, alla base c'è un sistema fantastico, ricco di contenuti ma comunque estremamente duttile.

(E comunque quell'incantesimo esiste davvero e si chiama Hateful Defecation)

Shadow of the Demon Lord is great and this heroic fantasy spinoff looks great too.
#sotdl has a very nice game system, stripped back mechanics and beefed up character building.

I make character sheets, and sometimes maps.
I organize 2 conventions a year, and run open tables at game festivals and libraries about once a month.
When I publish stuff I made, I use the CC-compatible Free Art license.

And last night we managed to get a nice bit of body horror and insanity on the go, where I may have ever so slightly been channeling The Thing, possibly my favourite film ever.

It was quite satisfying because it felt like we moved from "You're going to have a bad time" to "You're going to have a horrifically bad time"

Shadow of the Demon Lord is absolutely worth one night of your time and the main book is the only one that players and DMs need, a fair-priced PDF. 4/4

We are about half-way through Demon Bone Sarcophagus in our Shadow of the Demon Lord+Swordfish Islands campaign.

The semi-friendly NPCs roaming the dungeon are dying one by one, and the adventurers are freeing one ancien horror after the other. It was not obvious when first reading the module, but this is actually a really nice built-in way to ramp up the challenge. 🔥🔥🔥
