I will admit that I’ve always had a soft spot for Nico. Yes there is that whole tragic star mystique but for me I think it’s her “I am so thoroughly bored with this shit” tone that I’m attracted to. Anyway, what I’ve been listening to today is “Desertshore” by X-TG, a reworking of her classic album by former members of Throbbing Gristle and some guest vocalists. Marvellous stuff!

Today has been one of “those” work days so it required something a little more “angry” than of late. As a result today has been soundtracked by “Indestructible” by Disturbed. (Please let’s not mention the atrocious mess they made of “Sound of Silence”. The Dickies did the very best cover of that tune!)

Today has not really been soundtracked at all due to meetings but the evening has been lightened up by listening to some tracks from the original mix of “The Affectionate Punch” by #TheAssociates. #billymackenzie continues to warm my soul.

I rarely dream of “stars” but last night (for no apparent reason I can think of) I had a very vivid dream involving #billymackenzie and so today has been soundtracked by a mix of his solo material plus some from #TheAssociates. I have particularly enjoyed the melancholy of his last recorded work “Beyond the Sun”. As he once said “I appreciate the beauty of melancholy and of loneliness. I actually quite like being sad sometimes. It’s a good feeling”

This afternoon has been soundtracked by “Iowa” by Slipknot and “Indestructible” by Disturbed. It’s been one of those afternoons where I wanted something loud, noisy and (at least for Disturbed ) rhythmic and intelligible.
