I was finally able to take a (somewhat fuzzy) photo of our Warou (Welcome Swallow) chicks. The nest has been constructed in our new barn and we knew there were four eggs. They've grown quickly!

I spotted this lovely creature on an avocado leaf in my garden. It’s not a I’ve seen before, and I was attracted by its appearance; its costume reminds me of delicately folded white tissue paper embroidered with a soft gold fibre. According to , this is the Native Cranberry Moth, Poecilasthena pulchraria, and was first observed in New Zealand in 1843. It is found both here and in Australia.
