When, after I have cleared the public sidewalk of snow, a city or county snow plow deposits snow and debris on it and I am responsible for clearing it from that debris, I am effectively made responsible for clearing the street by being responsible for clearing the debris that came from the street.
Are there any lawyers who want to take that on?

Another 7 inches of snow and slush thrown onto the public sidewalk. My back is sore and angry from removing snow from it.

"The owner and or the occupant of property adjacent to a public sidewalk must use due diligence to remove all snow, ice, dirt and rubbish from edge to edge of the public sidewalk and keep the walk safe for pedestrians. The owner or occupant may not allow snow, ice, dirt or rubbish to remain on the walk longer than 24 hours after its deposit thereon."
Big government equipment vs. small home-owner equipment. Who is going to lose in this contest?

How much does a municipal-level snow plow cost? How much would I have to expend to compete against that? What about the county-level plows that throw snow on our sidewalk?

Our nephews are involved in high school robotics competitions. While I am fascinated by what their robots can do, I often wonder "but what can those machines do for us?"
I have a mindset of problem solving. Much of what I perceive is filtered through that mindset.
I have no interest in machines that only tip over other robots and throw balls through a hoop.
I have a sidewalk that I want cleared of the inch of ice on it. Build me a robot for that.

I went bowling with my spouse and our nephew yesterday evening. I enjoyed it despite having muscle issues from over extertion from ice removal from the public sidewalk.
We bowled at Town Hall Lanes in Minneaplis. After a few games, we had dinner in the restaurant. It was joyful to have our friend Jay wait on us. We've known him for 19 years.

Every day a dedicated bicyclist peddles his ass up Southview Blvd. I'm assuming to work.
Most days the automobile drivers are respectful. Not yesterday. Two vehicles drove past him agressively, one running a stale yellow light and the other a red.
Those were drivers coming out of SSP but SSP is about friends and neighbors so obviously those drivers must be from somewhere else.
We're considering having our mail held at the post office for the remainder of the winter. After inspecting our damaged mailbox, I decided it will take more than a few nails to fix it.
The municipal snow plow took it out again today despite it being located two feet back from the curb. And they threw ice onto the lower two feet of our driveway. That is beyond the 3 foot boulevard and 6 foot sidewalk.

The city plow crew continues its campaign against mailboxes and garbage cans. Yesterday they took out both our mailbox and the trash and recycling bins. The mailbox is sufficiently damaged that I will need to repair it and they hit the trash bin so hard it flew 6 feet into the yard.
I am grateful that we got only 10 inches of snow instead of the predicted 18+. The snow was light and fluffy so the snow blowers had no issue clearing the walkways and driveway. Even the snow thrown up by the municipal snow plows was manageable.
I still need to clear trails in our backyard so that it is easier for Lizzie the dog to get around.

I think it was @bryanhansel I was chatting with regarding local hashtags (#CookCountyMN). I realized I am the only one apparently using #SouthStPaul.
Trying #SouthStPaulMN and #DakotaCountyMN.
Hashtags are important because they allow us to search across federated instances. Searching on 'Minnesota' does not work but #Minnesota does.

I requested to meet with the postmaster but the angry employee refused me, stating "He is too busy for you!"
I stopped using that post office for shipping packages for several years because the angry employee was always at the front desk
Two years ago, I picked up a package at the post office. I was happy when the clerk on duty was happy and cheerful. When I cautiously enquired about previous employees, I learned the angry employee had retired a couple years ago.
A few of years after we moved into our place in #SouthStPaulMN, I asked at the local #PostOffice if we could move our mailbox. It had been knocked down and run over several times the first few years after we moved in and I wanted to move it to a safer location.
The crabby postal employee I asked blew their stack and YELLED at me that there were regulations about the location of mailboxes and I couldn't move it without the permission of the postmaster.
I applied for a library card from the county library. I haven't had a library card in more than 25 years. When I have wanted a book from the library, I asked Kat to get it for me.
The city gave up their library and the county is now building a new library here in town.
i hated the crabby librarians at the city library but Kat says the crabby ones are gone. I'll give the new county library a try when it opens next year.
