From the Krafft Ehricke papers held by the San Diego Air and Space Museum via the Smithsonian Virtual Archives, we have this image of what appears to be a Moon mission using a Lunar Gemini Lander.
While there are no details about the picture included in the archive, Ehricke never worked for McDonnell Douglas (the maker of the Gemini), so he likely picked this up from someone else to file away for future reference.

She went on to command Discovery on the first test flight of a Space Shuttle after the Columbia disaster in 2003.

And although Vanguard 1 is the oldest human-made object still in orbit, I reckon Sputnik 1 & its rocket could claim the "honour" of being the first ever pieces of space junk, albeit only briefly.
