A month from now (give or take a few hours) my plane will be touching down in Baku for the 74th International Astronautical Congress!
And I will be facilitating and speaking at a Space Law Special Session on Friday, October 6th @11:35 a.m. in HAC Hall C. We’ll be analyzing different aspects of due diligence and good faith in commercial outer space activities: https://www.iafastro.org/events/iac/iac-2023/technical-programme/special-sessions/friday-6-october/analysis-of-the-due-diligence-and-good-faith-in-commercial-outer-space-activities.html
No prior #spacelaw experience is needed to attend!
If you’re going to #iac2023 let me know.

I will be building off of some of the concepts I introduced in Section 5 of the written component of my previous presentation and I would love to hear your thoughts on my work as I shape my presentation for this year. Can’t make it to Azerbaijan, then maybe I will see you at ASCEND 2023 in Las Vegas. (Where I will also be presenting.)
Let me know if you are going to IAC or ASCEND this year!

I had a lot of thoughts about the new Florida law on human spaceflight liability. So I geeked out a bit and wrote a little blog about it.
Don’t worry, you do not have to be a #spacelaw expert to read it!

Two years ago I never imagined I would be at an IAC. Last year I attended my first IAC and presented in a large room with about 100 different presentations going on at once. This year, I am facilitating a Special Session on #spacelaw, on a big stage, with some incredible colleagues from all over the globe. Talk about big dreams coming true.
Come join me on October 6th in Baku as we provide an analysis of due diligence and good faith in commercial outer space activities. I hope to see you there!
A new article in the University of Illinois Law Review makes several recommendations for reducing the impact of satellite megaconstellations, arguing that "the UN and FCC ought to establish firm regulations on placing satellites in LEO".

@liminalfiction So, hmm, if one posits that stars are sentient beings, albeit rather difficult to communicate with, and if one is to hew to our local-area customs per image-sharing...
Has anyone reached out (a good faith attempt, at least) to WR 124 regarding a model release?
Or are we all paparazzi here?

I found out this morning that the session I proposed was selected for a Special Session at #IAC2023!
Last year in Paris I dreamed about being on one of the big stages at IAC and this year I will be! (Along with several other amazing panelists from around the globe.)

Will I see you in Baku?

Last week was a big #spacelaw week for me.
On Thursday I was a panelist on the “Space Junk: Creating a Sustainable Space Ecosystem" panel for the International Space Convention 2023. Some of the things I talked about included the rapid proliferation of space debris and the negative impact that has, the cultural significance of space to all of humankind, and the importance of switching our mindset to planning ahead for future use versus our current system of “first come, first claimed”.
And I am able to conduct mediations and arbitrations through Alternative Resolution Centers (ARC), the American Arbitration Association (AAA), and National Arbitration and Mediation (NAM).
#Aerospaceindustry #spacelaw #arbitration #mediation
Sure, you do mediations, but do you do #aerospace mediations?
Actually, I do.
My unique understanding of traditional #businesslaw, #internationallaw, and #spacelaw allows me to conduct #mediations and #arbitrations geared specifically towards the aerospace industry.
I understand the inherent differences between the working environment at space companies as compared to other businesses and I also appreciate the large investments and years of work that go into all aerospace projects.

Hmm... have a number of issues with this, but wonder whether it may violate Art IX OST, granted that depends on what constitutes an 'adverse change'... #spacelaw

and #spacelaw is such a hot topic at the moment that there are not one but two PhD studentships on critical legal approaches to space law!
Newcastle Law School are also advertising: https://jobs.ac.uk/job/CWJ296/nuact-phd-studentship-critical-approaches-to-outer-space-law (Newcastle's great, did my undergrad there - apply to both)
