My favorite fact: on STS-31 (the launch mission for Hubble) and two other DOD-related missions, the Space Shuttle carried Detailed Secondary Objective 469.

What was that cryptic carry-on? A Human Skull.

More elegantly known as the In-flight Radiation Dose Distribution, the skull was wrapped in plastic, cut into ten slices, and covered in dosimeters to measure how much astronauts get on their noggins.

Context about the stethoscope comment... just a euphemism for 'evaluation and management 'of an acute medical issue in a capsule like Dragon or Soyuz. Easier to do evaluation on the ISS (a large volume with a short sleeve environment)

How much do we know about the toxicity of lunar dust? A nice review in nature by Pohlen et al. summarizes our current knowledge. [1] But why be concerned first place? On Earth, inhaled dusts less than <10 µm can penetrate deeply into the lung and reach the alveolus. [2] There they can persist due to poor bioclearance. Some dusts lead to chronic inflammation, possibly via free radical damage, which can lead to interstitial lung disease / pneumoconiosis.

Researchers from Houston Methodist Research Institute sent 10
remotely controlled drug delivery implants to ISS on Saturday. Such
devices could improve care to spacefarers & to those in remote
locations on earth. https:

Two weeks ago, Canadian Dave Williams and I released our latest : "Why Am I Taller? What Happens to an Astronaut’s Body in Space."

It's a fun romp through and with a literal space doctor (that would be Dave; I'm a space journalist.) I'd love to see our book appear in more , so do make a request at your local! Or, if you want a copy, do support your local bookstore. :)
