What a pleasure to speak with @FranciscaOrtiz for the 'Knitting Networks' podcast and chat about my research into spatial and social networks.

The podcast provides amazing features of scholars investigating social networks and is a joy to listen to - so many fantastic colleagues talking about their work!

My episode is now live: podcasters.spotify.com/pod/sho

The new 0.4.11 release of added Vertex.InterpolateValue. This allows it to derive the value of a vertex based on a weighted average of the n nearest vertices from an input list of other vertices. This can help speedup , daylight calculations or, when combined with Topology.ReplaceVertices, in creating a terrain model from a few spot elevations.

The jupyter notebook has been published to github at: github.com/wassimj/topologicpy

I’ve recently moved to a new department in a different building. The change in spatial layout and resulting feelings of belonging, experience of hierarchy, and opportunities for social interaction and collaboration are striking. (Something for @kerstinsailer) 1/3

Segment maps are a little more complicated, as they have connections between all the lines ending up at each intersection @spacesyntax

Highly recommended exhibition at @LdnMetArchives@twitter.com: Magnificent Maps of London, running till 11 Apr 2022 - 29 Mar 2023 cityoflondon.gov.uk/events/mag.

Do try and get onto one of the tours: the Lab recently had a brilliant time learning more about London's map history.

A little sneak preview to some of the ideas in the chapter - we interpret architectural layout and intervisibility between beds in in as a foundation for tie formation and thus different potential forms of sociability that might emerge

@kerstinsailer this is so cool. I’ve heard of in context of urban design but not for floor plans (but that should have been an obvious application). We do grid based analysis in cove.tool so I’ll have to check this out!

@pchopson thanks! It's a of a building using . Shows how many 'visual turns' (looking around the corner) you need to see all spaces from a certain vantage point. Red to blue = short to long paths.
See here for a longer explanation including the actual example I've used (which is castle - part of my geekery).
