Konichiwa everyone! (⁀ᗢ⁀)
Today, I made another #Rice dish. This one from Hawaii called, #SpamMusubi ! I couldn't have done it without Taiji's Kitchen on YouTube. His recipe, which I followed, can be found here: https://youtu.be/fbovZ4QEpf8
It really is a very simple and easy to make recipe. I wanted to try making it two ways. The way he cut and wrapped Nori, and wrapping Nori all around it.
Unlike Taiji himself, I did put Kewpie mayo on them, between the rice and the spam. It is honestly amazing! The sweetness from the sauce the spam was cooked in, the salt in the spam itself, and the kewpie mayo adding a bit of tanginess gives it so much umami! It makes for a good meal or a snack.
If you ever buy spam in your entire life, even just once, buy it to make this!
If you know anything about food from Hawai’i, you know about our love affair with Spam. Proud to share this piece produced by students at my alma mater and my connection to the “inventor” of the Spam musubi. I worked for the Funamura’s making a LOT of musubi beginning in 1983 (7th grade) all the way into my undergrad years. https://youtu.be/fWg7fhn9oz8 #Kauaiaswhy #luckywelivehawaii #spammusubi #hawaiikinetings #iykyk
