@workingclasshistory "civil" war always sounded to me like a misnomer considering the number of foreign involvements https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_Civil_War#Foreign_involvement , it looks more like a proxy war between World Wars.
Not only because several centuriae of the #Durruti column gathered foreign fighters, but also because of forfeitures like the #BanqueDeFrance handing-over to #Franco in July 1939 the remainder of the 40 tons of gold reserve entrusted to it by the #SpanishRepublic in April 1931
