Some new parts arrived, probably hard to see in the picture, but I got a 5v to 3v level shifter for the #sparkfun #qwiic connector, a few qwiic connector cables (various types, but mostly qwiic to grove. or qwiic to dupont). This was all so the person sensor and the #M5Stack stuff could place nice together. I also picked up a M5Stack Univ V M12 #camera w/fish eye lens, a couple #Lilygo T-OI Plus boards (#ESP32 C3), a Lillygo T-Display S3 board.

TIL about #SparkFun's MicroMod ecosystem of carrier boards, feature boards, and processor boards. If it works as advertised, it could be a pretty sweet prototyping tool.

Does anybody go the sparkfun dmx board to read from the DMX input channel? I installed the esp32 on the DMX board and started the example, but I don't receive anything coming from DMX sender. I also installed a DMX light behind the DMX Sparkfun board to see, that the sender is working. Any advise? Thanks.

I almost had a heart attack.

Unlike #Sparkfun #rp2040 pro micro, these modules would not run the #QMK firmware code when it's uploaded.

I was on the verge of giving up, assuming the NAND modules I chose were crap (I assumed the RP2040 would not write to the NAND flash drive because the flash is broken). I then gave up on QMK and wanted to try KMK firmware, but before that I installed #circuitpython and it was working. Then I installed QMK over and voila, it worked!

Still trying to get a good reading off my gas sensor (BME688). If I can get it to work properly, then I'll be moving onto using #BLE on #sparkfun 's RedBoard ArtemisV1. ~>skill build up to a weather station in the garage.

A cold cup filled with warm water imaged using a #Melexis MLX90640 from #Sparkfun. Colors are scaled to span the minimum and maximum temperatures (degrees Celsius) and rescale dynamically. #infrared #thermalIR #imaging

Room temperature objects glow with their own light (at (~10-15 micron wavelengths). If imaged objects are the same temperature, there is very little contrast and the objects are invisible! #Melexis MLX90640 from #Sparkfun. Reports of Credit card skimmers in the state. I was under the false impression that these were installed externally and would be easy to spot. These are installed inside the pump using a master key.

Mutter, that'll teach me to be impatient and order cheap components... Two (very) cheap max3232 boards - dubious quality, didn't work and melted. 🤦‍♂️ much time wasted.
Thankfully the quality #sparkfun board arrived and cleaned up the #homeautomation serial interface nicely.

The Drainmice gave me a #Sparkfun 303D hot air rework station for the holidays. Just used it for the first time, seating a chip that has a thermal pad underneath. It was so easy! This thing is awesome!

For scale, the pins are 0.25mm wide.
