Today's highlight from deep in the grading cave is that both classes I taught this quarter were the second in a course sequence, and the students' additional contextual understanding, methodological training, and general level of engagement comes through in the final projects. #spatialthinking
Very proud of our lab's latest creation. A salted caramel cake in a planar projection of the southern hemisphere to scale. #cartography #mapmaking #mapsInTheWild #spatialthinking #spatialDoing #planarProjection

Matthew Cunningham spoke about using the surface from motion tool Agisoft to 3D map a pā site in the Wairarapa.
Fraser spoke about the outreach strategy he's been supporting on the #wairarapa project and showed off some of the project's webmaps.

How spatial thinking could help children learn maths – and go on to use it in their careers
People who have strong spatial skills are more likely to be interested in science, technology, engineering and maths (Stem) and to choose Stem degrees and Stem careers. #edtech @edtech #education #edutooter #STEM #SpatialThinking #math

It's been a week. Philip Blagdon who's our geospatial technician at the moment knocked it out of the park with a great talk on data quality using meaningful examples from his work at Waka Kotahi.
Insightful advice on the value of information and making the business case for data quality and information infrastructure.

Today was a winner. Five moving narratives for 5 important wetlands in the Wairarapa. It was a real privilege to listen to these stories and also hear them take flight and come to life. The stories will be released in our #virtualReality application and on the project website next year. #research #wairarapaGlisteningWater #spatialThinking #spatialDoing

Spent yesterday in the Wairarapa creating an outreach strategy for our Wairarapa Glistening Water VR project. Today is back to the recording studio to capture more of the evocative place narratives in the voices of Ngāti Kahungunu ki Wairarapa. This project is so diverse and one of the reason academic study/research can be rewarding and engaging! #spatialThinking #spatialDoing #fieldwork #academicLife

Success!
Textured Earth by bld on thingiverse using creality black PLA filament and an Ender 3 s1 pro.
We've been having some teething difficulties getting started on top prints but this looks really promising. Annoyingly it seems the filament spool was the issue for the last set of problems. It seems to have either become tangled due to poor management on our part (definitely possible for us newbies) or camr that way.
