I pulled him from doggie death row at the shelter yesterday. This will buy him time, and hopefully, I can find a good home for him. Just the sweetest boy. Sadly, every day, thousands just like him are euthanized at shelters. There are just not enough people willing to adopt from shelters, and yet people still buy dogs. #spayandneuteryourpets #dogsofmastodon #adoptadog

I found her on our deck before her eyes were open. We waited 11 hours for mom to return before I brought her inside, warmed her and fed her. We found her momma the next day. Mom cat managed to get spayed and adopted when the time was right. This tiny fur ball stole our hearts. She just turned two. #hbd #spayandneuteryourpets #cats #CatsOfMastodon

Kitten update:

They hissed at me today! Love this stage where teenies hiss oh so ferociously 🤣 at anything that doesn’t smell like their mom.

3.5 days old and now weighing in at 131-181 grams.

The kittens will be named after young adult detectives in books/comics/graphic novels.

Already know one will be Enola (Nancy Springer’s Enola Holmes - read/listen if you haven’t yet…SO good) and one will be Ottoline (Chris Riddell’s Ottoline and the Yellow Cat which I’ve not yet read).

That leaves 5 names (one a boy & rest TBD)

You guys?!?! I think we might meet #TheYADetectiveKittens tonight. Ms Trixie tipped over the soft bed & is on her back, hind legs up & periodically appears to clench/push. Purring (cats don’t just do that when happy but also when in pain & even when dying) and accepted a few pets.

Thinking of calling her “Trixie” (as in Trixie Belden)

She’s about 2 yo according to the shelter

She’s a social eater

She’s very vocal & VERY loud when she wants something

She’s friendly, until she’s not. Reminds me of affectionate but temperamental #SadieTheCat. I can work with this. Just means slowing WAY down to watch for signs she’s losing patience.
