My litmus test for a public figure is whether I’d like to have a conversation over a beer with them.

My gut is telling me emphatically that I do not want a beer with any of the members of the freedom caucus. These guys are all blustering assholes. If they truly represent the people in their districts, we are screwed.

I do take exception to this quote in the article from Lauren Bell:
"Given the right circumstances, Bell said this sort of insurgency could happen on the Democratic side as well, but she said Republican backbenchers simply contest their leaders more often." I think it's likely taken a bit of context but the far left of the democrats are moderate by Canadian/world standards. With all the bluster and swagger in the #SpeakerElection, it’s worth noting that the #HouseofRepresentatives chamber is currently controlled by Cheryl Johnson, the Clerk.

She and her team have done a great job of managing 435 egos during this election process.

The #SpeakerElection will be held and repeated until really everyone can recite by heart the names of the 435 representatives(-elect). And alphabetically in the correct order.
