I’m a #paralegal student, with the aim to be a #specialEd #advocate for K-12 #disabled persons and their families. I will never represent a school district, because I’m a Dad of an Autie, and I know what it is like to navigate & negotiate with district administrators, whom I differentiate from teachers or aids. I support #teachers, because they support students.

Besides the above, I’m #Agonistic and a supporter of independent #SocialDemocracy.

Our Hero of the Week: Special Ed teacher, Carol at Bard Blades School in Salinas CA, is so thankful for the many free bilingual books she picked up at our #BookBank to engage her Spanish-speaking English language learners!

I'm a believer in reversing the traditional vector of IEPs, scaffolding & differentiation - by that I mean, once one makes any IEP adaptations, then why not then fold those adaptations back into the general class, whenever possible?
Much of what I originally made for students with IEPs became sought after by all my other students, and then students of other teachers, from the Honors science classes (and now from other schools.)

I worked at a state uni teacher prep program and I can tell you those UG & grad students got almost no training in #SpecialEd. What we do know is that many teachers rely on "junior instructors" in their classrooms to support the needs of struggling #students. You know, the #gifted kids who get paired up on group projects with less engaged classmates - or how #PeerTutoring is used under the guise that it helps the GT kid reinforce their own learning.
