My god, the lady learning Dutch using Dualingo in the wire queue has a deafening whistle. I sat away from her to avoid listening to her phone on loudspeaker, but even 20m away my ears are hurting.

In the sixteenth- and seventeenth-century Netherlands, celebrations of Epiphany often involved a reversal of social (and, occasionally, gender) roles. Ordinary people, for example, were keen to dress up as members of the ruling elite, such as 'kings' and 'courtiers'.
