When he first split white light in 1665 into the rainbow spectrum of colours, he named & described what he saw as red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet (often denoted ROY G BIV).

Pretty sure this is #spectrum by aborting the #usopen #tennis television broadcasts by not completing negotiations with #disney.

Welp today #ESPN+ stopped working too, perhaps bc it is connected to my #Spectrum account. So if I want to watch the #USOpen, I have to do it illegally.

Which got me to thinking about the decentralization of media. In theory it is cool to pay solely for what one wants, but the reality... For example: if one wants to watch #MLB games from out of market one can purchase MLB TV, but if they travel to one’s market the games are blacked out so one needs cable too to watch certain #baseball games.

#disney owns #wabctv in #NewYork. On the noon #news they mentioned the dispute between #houseofmouse and #spectrum over the rates Spectrum pays to carry Disney channels. Okay, that’s newsworthy. Then, the #anchors went on to quote from Disney’s official statement and directed folks to a Disney run website to “learn more.” Nothing was said about Spectrum’s case. I’m a #DIS shareholder, but the lack of ethics bugs me. Believe me, #Charter (Spectrum’s parent) has a side of the story, too.

I do pay for #Spectrum and can’t watch the #USOpen on #ESPN, but my ESPN+ subscription has expired yet I can still watch the matches on +. So ESPN/ESPN2/ESPN3 which I pay for no, ESPN+ which I do not pay for I can. Nothing makes sense
