Having received postcards of glowing city skylines from traveling friends and family (and I’ve mailed a few), I’ve always pondered the unflattering, non-postcard vantage point. Every “big city” downtown has at least one, where the unglamorous, but necessary, pieces of industry or government get built. This, taken a couple years ago as part of a project, is one of my home town’s.

More evidence of my lousy turnaround effort between taking a shot and posting on the socials. Took this back in January 2021, methinks, when we had what seemed like weeks of hoar frost. I hadn’t used my Graflex 25cm f5.6 lens much, and resolved to work it into the rotation. I think I had the lens wide open and the focal plane shutter at 1/50. I bought that lens for a whopping $80 in 2018. Take that, you Kodak Aero Ektar obsessives!

Hey, it's #WaterfallWednesday! Here's a photo of a waterfall that I took. The waterfall is in Cooper's Rock State Park in West Virginia, and I took the photo with my 4x5 #Graflex #SpeedGraphic camera. This is a 16x20 gelatin silver print toned with sulfide toner.

Second photo is me using the same camera on top of a mountain in Alaska. It takes great photos, but it's heavy and bulky. The Graflex Speed Graphic: exactly how badly do you want to take that nature photo?

Three palladium prints. Most of the black and white photos made during the twentieth century are gelatin silver prints; the dark parts of the image are made from grains of metallic silver suspended in a layer of gelatin that sits on the surface of a piece of paper. The palladium printing process is older, it had its heyday in the second half of the nineteenth century, along with a similar process based on platinum.
