I cast Susan before Hawk b/c Susan is more relevant to Spenser's character. This is the element every Spenser / project to date has gotten wrong. was excellently cast in the 1999-2001 A&E movies, but the plots gave her nothing to do - and Parker himself wrote those scripts.

@TimBondy, Lupica is taking over the Spenser series begun by Parker and continued by Ace Atkins for 10 books. Lupica has also done some Sunny Randall novels, and while he has come up with good stories, his style at times reminded me of a YA novel. Your review gives me hope. I really enjoyed Spenser.
