Our study utilizes a unique dataset of simultaneous human and cortical recordings to investigate the relationship between epileptic activity and two of the cardinal sleep oscillations – slow oscillations (0.5 – 2 Hz) and #spindles (9-16 Hz) – generated in the thalamus.

Previous reports suggested that #facial #muscles lack muscle #spindles (that provide info on muscle length & contraction velocity) but this study https://anatomypubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/ar.25172 shows human facial muscles contain muscle spindles - Study predicted that humans would have the greatest number, given the role our lips play in speech. But humans & other primates had the lowest number - like it that the findings went against the authors' hypothesis - but what is going on?
