One of my favorite music videos of all time is the Doctor and the Medics cover of Spirit in the Sky (1986). The original was by Norman Greenbaum (1969).

Some things that have happened to me with this song:

-- I played it one night while DJ'ing at a college radio station. The phone rang, and I answered it to a tirade of profanity due to a listener being offended by references to Jesus in the song. Phone got slammed in my ear, so I responded on air saying that the caller "didn't know shit." Phone rang again, and I unplugged it.

-- I complimented this cover on Twitter, and "The Doctor" of Doctor and the Medics, Clive Jackson, sent thanks. ❤

A nice thing is that the composer of the original, Norman Greenbaum, is Jewish and it was his attempt to write a quickie gospel song after hearing country singer Porter Wagoner on the TV.
