It's the last weekend of operation for Splash Mountain at Disneyland. When all the animatronics and lighting effects were running correctly it was quite an attraction to behold. But now it's time for Tiana's Bayou Adventure.

I understand why they’re changing it… but it’ll be a rough one, I think splash mountain created an identity far different from song of the south. I hope the new version creates a feel that will rival the original, especially since Baxter is backing it.

I'm more cautiously yet earnestly optimistic about Tiana's Bayou Adventure than I am about anything the domestic Parks Division has done over the last decade. A deep-cut reference to Louisiana's salt domes? That's a great start.

Just watched my pal Justin Scarred's account of the final day of at . It's hardly scientific, but at some point, I started watching, and the only black faces I spotted were cast members. (There were a couple brown ones.) It was a big party and many will miss the ride, but on some creepy, unintentional level, it sometimes felt a little like the happiest clan meeting on Earth. I know many still don't understand why it was time for it to go.
