WATCH: Not many ships SPLIT IN TWO - but this pair do . . .
Hopper barges Peter Caland and Cornelis Lely so something quite surprising - they are designed to split in two, down their longitudinal centre line. This means that the hull opens like a clamshell bucket, immediately discharging the whole of their cargos of spoil, which have brought up by dredgers which unload into them.
