For those interested I've just completed a report back on my attendance at the recent #SPNHC2023 conference. This is part of my obligations to report back to the general Wiki community as well as to the Wikimedia Foundation who generously funded my attendance. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1XaQQXo5a0AzwJZHqS3WvoaFMkc7hE-Zz97TYoha-AFo/edit?usp=sharing
Well #SPNHC2023 is over for me - heading back to Chambana. Amazing conference, amazing people. So many great conversations & memories made. Hope I'll be able to make the next one. Thanks to @calacademy for hosting both me for some research and many of the great events.
Thanks to @AshWhiffin & Christy Bills for this great picture of us entomologists at #SPNHC2023 @entsocamerica mini-reunion!
Phew, just finished my 2nd #SPNHC2023 talk! Nice to get my thoughts out there about collection management & frustrations with citations & aggregators.
Made it to San Francisco for #SPNHC2023 (Society for the Protection of Natural History Collections). Plan of attack today is to catch up with folk, both attendees and also Wiki friends from San Fran. It's going to be a good day!
I've just spent the last week drafting and getting advice on my funding application to the Wikimedia Foundation to attend SPNHC 2023. The rapid grant application has now been submitted! #SPNHC2023 #WikimediaFoundation #Funding

I've spent most of today working on an abstract for a proposed in person presentation at #SPNHC2023. At the same time I've also been working on a funding application to get there. I keep reminding myself that this is as important as my projects work. Although the flow on benefits of this work may not be visible immediately, I reassure myself that focusing on this community has already paid dividends in openness and engagement. https://www.calacademy.org/spnhc-2023
